Sanguisorba officinalis

The great burnet (Sanguisorba officinalis) is an up to 100 cm tall herbaceous plant of the rose family.

The stem is erect, round, grooved and bare. The leaves are pinnate, with 3-6 Fiederpaaren. The leaf is dark green top, the bottom blue green. The flower heads are 1-3 cm long and consist of approximately 20-40 hermaphrodite flowers. The flowers are dark red-brown and consist of two Next Page and four sepals. The petals are absent in this type

The Great Burnet is a Eurasian species and comes from the Atlantic coast in France to East Asia (South China) before. In northern Europe the way almost entirely missing or is at least very rare.

Use
The species is an excellent forage plant and is eaten by livestock like.
