The Historical Data About Day of Peace

The International Day of Peace is celebrated on September 21 of each year. It was established November 30, 1981 by the UN General Assembly resolution 36/67 .

The Assembly declared that the Day was observed on the third Thursday of September each year as a day of peace and nonviolence, and turned an invitation to all nations and people to cease hostilities during the day.

The resolution calls on all Member States, organizations of the United Nations system, regional organizations and non-governmental organizations and individuals to commemorate the day in an appropriate way is through education and public awareness, both in cooperation with the United Nations for peace overall.

After a campaign by Jeremy Gilley and Peace One Day organization, 7 September 2001 the UN General Assembly passed resolution 55/282 by which declares that, since 2002, the International Day of Peace will be celebrated on 21 September each year, and this would become the day of the ceasefire.

In 2005 there was a ceremony at the Peace Bell at the United Nations in New York. The observance of World Day for Peace is beginning to be increasingly common, especially in schools with activities aimed at peace.

On 11 and 21 September 2003, the network MyPacis.com hosted a "Blog carnival for peace." The purpose of this blog is to simulate discussion and find answers to achieve true peace in the world.
